LVMH Climbs to Fresh Record High Making CEO World’s Richest Man
hares of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton have been on an incredible run since mid-2022, soaring over 50% to a fresh record high of €806.3-per-share on the 18th of January this year. This surge in the value of the world’s largest fashion empire has made CEO and founder of LVMH, Bernard Arnault, the richest person on planet Earth with a total net worth estimated at $203 billion – eclipsing Elon Musk who recently became the first person in history to lose more than $200 billion in net worth. But many of you may be asking, what has made Arnault so successful and what does this mean for the future of LVMH? Arnault began his climb into billionaire status back in 1985, taking the proceeds from his family’s construction business and purchasing Christian Dior for $15 million. He then set his sights on LVMH, becoming a majority shareholder of the luxury conglomerate in 1989.
Brands Acquired by LVMH
Since then, LVMH has acquired 75 brands from a multitude of different luxury sectors, from clothing, cologne and perfume to alcohol, watches and jewellery. The firm is now valued at just shy of $400 billion and looks set to continue gaining in value in the coming months following several leadership changes that have been applauded by the market as a whole. Delphine Arnault, the daughter of Bernard, has been appointed CEO of Christian Dior Couture after serving as vice president of Louis Vuitton for the past decade. While former head of Christian Dior, Pietro Beccari, has been named the new chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton. With the company’s shares in a strong upward trajectory it is certainly one for investors to keep on the watch list, especially if discretionary spending rebounds this year.

LVMH Daily Price Chart – Consolidating Just Below Record Highs

From a technical perspective, LVMH looks to be in a strong bull trend as prices surge to fresh record-highs and consolidate just below key resistance at €800.
With price tracking comfortably above the 200-day moving average, and above average volume seen on the recent break higher, the path of least resistance appears skewed to the upside.
A daily close above €807 is needed to validate bullish potential and bring the next psychological resistance level at €820 into buyers’ crosshairs.
However, if short-term resistance holds firm, a pullback to the January 2022 high (€758) could be on the cards.
